About Sensory-Friendly Performances

sensory-friendlySensory-friendly performances are designed to create a performing arts experience that is welcoming to all individuals on the autism spectrum or with disabilities that create sensory sensitivities.

Accommodations for these performances include:

  • Lower sound level, especially for startling or loud sounds;
  • Lights remain on at a low level in the theatre during the performance;
  • A reduction of strobe lighting or lighting focused on the audience;
  • Patrons are free to talk and leave their seats during the performance;
  • Space throughout the theater for standing and movement.

COVID-19 and Our Production Season

In accordance with federal, state, and local guidelines and in the interest of protecting the health and safety of our patrons, students, faculty, and staff, all upcoming performances by the University Theatre and University Dance company have been postponed or cancelled. Indecent has been rescheduled to perform October 2-8, 2020. We are not planning to reschedule Urinetown at this time. The box office has been in contact with all ticketholders to arrange for refunds or credits toward future performances. Please email us with any questions to theatretickets@ku.edu. Thank you for your past and future support of Theatre and Dance at KU!
